About Lesson
  • 🏢 Hierarchical social division

    • The gender division in society forms a hierarchical structure.
    • This means that men and women are often ranked differently in terms of power, influence, and resources.
    • Although this division is present in many societies, it is often overlooked when studying politics.
  • ⚖️ Gender division understood as natural

    • Gender differences are commonly considered as inherent or “natural” characteristics.
    • This perception treats gender roles as unchangeable and a part of human biology.
    • The idea is that men and women are naturally suited for different roles in society.
  • 🚫 Social expectations and stereotypes

    • In reality, the gender division is not based on biology but on social expectations.
    • Society has constructed specific roles for men and women through stereotypes (e.g., men are expected to be leaders, women are expected to be caretakers).
    • These roles are learned and enforced through cultural norms and practices, not through biological imperatives.
